When adding an event to Google Calendar, you are initially asked to grant arbprosoftware.com permission to manage your calendar. This permission is the lowest tier Google Calendar has to offer and can be misleading when trying to understand which level of access Arb Pro has to your calendar (now and in the future).
Requested Data- Arb Pro Software LTD, does not request any data from your Google Calendar when an API call is made.
The API call only requests to sync Arb Pro events to your Google calendar that include the following 3 event types.
SPECIFIC DATA SYNCED-
You may use the API to sync data from Arb Pro to your Google Calendar. Events saved in your Google Calendar are NOT synced to your Arb Pro Calendar.
USING THE API ENABLES A ONE-WAY SYNC OF DATA FROM ARB PRO TO YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR ONLY
Google Calendar (GC)- Many GC users gain great benefit retaining and continuing to use their GC to manage events outside of Arb Pro Calendar.
The reason will be specific to each GC user, for example their GC use may include personal events or other similar events they don’t want displayed on a global calendar shared with colleagues for example “Arb Pro Calendar” (APC).
Reasons may also include a wish to continue using their GC for historical and familiarity reasons, considering a GC users may have been using their GC for many years and wants to retain their GC calendar alongside their APC.
Considering the aforementioned, the ability to sync events from your APC to your GC is greatly beneficial. Integrating using the API and allowing your APC events to sync to your GC also considerably helps a user to avoid double bookings and time crossovers for specific events.
Once a user has synced all their events from APC to GC, they are in a better position to avoid double booking events and retain a single view from their GC for personal events they would rather work colleagues cannot see.
Using the API therefore is beneficial for all the reasons detailed above.
